New Traffic Police Center in Taldou Enhances Road Safety and Reduces Congestion in Western Homs
The town of Taldou
in western Homs witnessed the opening of a new Traffic Police Center
earlier this month, a development that has significantly improved traffic flow
and reduced congestion in the town and surrounding villages—especially during
the busy month of Ramadan. The center is part of broader efforts by the
Security Directorate to enhance public safety and regulate transportation in
the region.
Alternative
Routes to Ease Traffic Pressure
Captain Hamad Salameh,
Deputy Director of the Taldou Security Directorate for Police Affairs,
explained that the center manages traffic movement in Taldou and its
surroundings. He noted that alternative routes for trucks traveling between
Homs and Hama were established to address the narrowness of some roads,
resulting in a substantial reduction in congestion and smoother
traffic flow.
Handling
Accidents and Enforcing Traffic Laws
The center’s responsibilities
include:
·
Responding to
traffic accidents around the clock
·
Issuing
official reports in accordance with traffic laws
·
Enhancing
driver compliance with road regulations
·
Improving
overall public safety
Increased
Efforts During Ramadan
Head of the Traffic Center, Youssef Hojak,
stated that Ramadan typically brings increased traffic activity, prompting
intensified efforts to maintain order. He added that the closure of
the Al‑Rastan Bridge forced heavy trucks to pass through the
area, creating additional challenges. These were addressed by redirecting
trucks to external routes and preventing their entry into the
town.
The center also worked on organizing
transportation between the Houla region and Homs city, ensuring
safe and efficient movement for residents.
Residents
Notice Clear Improvements
Local resident Kamal Al‑Ali
from Tal Al‑Dhahab expressed appreciation for the new measures, noting that
traffic conditions were previously chaotic and congested. He highlighted the
noticeable improvement since the center began operating, particularly during
Ramadan.
Supporting
Security Departments
The Taldou Security Directorate
includes several police departments:
·
Taldou Police
Department
·
Kherbet Al‑Teen
Department
·
Shin
Department
·

Investigation Center
These units conduct daily patrols,
handle complaints, and ensure rapid response to community needs.
